Need advice on a video game I am developing. Should I scrap some of my plans and rel - AmandaRob - 09-24-2020 Need advice on a video game I am developing. Should I scrap some of my plans and rel I’ve been developing a game for Roblox the past month and I’ve been making good progress. I have all the gameplay coded and I’ve play tested it a few times to see how balanced the game is. It is a round-based game and I am planning to sell skins through loot boxes to make money off it. Before working on my game, I observed some of the top games, similar to mine, and noticed they had trading systems and some kind of special lobby/matchmaking system. Currently my game doesn’t have any of those and it doesn’t even have an inventory system to hold skins I plan to sell. I thought having these systems would be crucial to the success of my game, but a new game came out that contradicts this idea. The game is called Imposter and it is a clone of Among Us, a very popular game right now. The game Imposter has been out for only 6 days and it already has over 13 million visits and currently has 54k players. When I checked it last night it only had about 11 million visits. The game is still in Beta and it doesn’t have any of the systems I mentioned before. This made me think these systems might be unnecessary and that I should release earlier. I’m not the best at coding and I believe creating some of these systems are out of my skill level and will take a lot of time to learn how to make. Is this game, Imposter, just an outlier and I shouldn’t try to imitate them? Should I bide my time or scrap my idea of creating these extra systems? I feel like the expectations for Roblox games is lower in general, so I might be able to be successful without all the extra bells and whistles. [link] [comments] |
