Hey all!

I am a Texas based hobby photographer who loves taking photos of friends for fun. I did maybe 20 shoots last year, most for free, and some for $20 where my friends paid cash.

But I know my photos are good, and I’d like to start charging $100/session with some Christmas card shoots this October/November. Since the money I made last year was next to nothing, but this year if I pushed for expanding I estimate I could make about $2,000 if I really wanted to - and next year, potentially up to $5,000 - I’d like to have the ability to do that “the right way.” What next steps are recommended for people in this position? Would it be to find an accountant that could help me proceed?
