A pandemic add-on to "The Mom Test" from Rob Fitzpatrick - AmandaRob - 11-27-2020 A pandemic add-on to "The Mom Test" from Rob Fitzpatrick I have to confess. I just read "The Mom Test". Yes, the ultimate guide to customer interviews. Yes, only now. Hence the confession. Initially, I was planning to go down the self-justification road in my next sentence, but it's not the point. The point is that Rob Fitzpatrick, the author of the book, argues that in-person meetings are the best. They allow for a more casual conversation so that you can dig deeper and extract unbiased knowledge from the depths of the costumer's mind. I couldn't agree more. But the problem is that these days, casual in-person meetings with strangers have become more of a plot for a next horror story on Netflix. It seems like remote interviews are the only option right now, and the further the pandemic goes, the more it becomes a default one. So how do you apply "The Mom Test" approach in the post-pandemic world? It is the almost exact question I put in the subject line of my email to Rob. To my surprise, he was kind enough to reply and share a series of short videos that he's recorded back in March. Those answer my questions pretty much, and I thought some of you guys might be interested in having a small add-on to your game. This quick exchange of emails with Mr Fitzpatrick reminded me (yet again) that conversation is mission-critical to anything you do. You can't just sit there thinking you know enough. Reach out to people, set up a call, try your luck with an in-person meeting (still my favourite), ignite that conversation, and it'll reward you with knowledge. [link] [comments] |
