Do options lose value over time as new shares get released?

Hi I started working at a startup, and over 4 years i get X amount of shares. Now the ceo announced that new investors will invest, and new shares/options will be "created". Lets say there are 100 shares now, so then I own X% of the company (once i have my options). If they release new shares do my options lose value? Or do they split maybe? How does this usually work? Thanks.
