Are some industries always lifestyle and can't be a startup? - Albert - 09-22-2021 Are some industries always lifestyle and can't be a startup? I want to start a company in the videogame industry, but I want to seek VC funding. After asking some questions here my posts got the flair changed to "traditional business" tags. Does this mean videogame companies can't be startups? This leads me to wonder further about other industries, are there some industries that can only be lifestyle or only be startups?? Edit 1: Lessons learned so far: I'm starting to realize that "just making games" is simply not innovative enough, generally speaking. I have to make it clear what new technology, or concepts I will be adding to the status quo, which will stomp the status quo in order to make it clear that my efforts are worth investing in. I think the part where I can really excel is the scale and production time reduction, but that might not be enough. Edit 2: I'm going to have to dig deeper to the interactions I see happening daily as I work in this industry and see where the most friction is. Then examine what could be optimized about the interactions. Examine who the key players are, and how the money flows, and see how to cut down steps or take over steps of the production process.
