Insurance and Benefits / HR for first employees for a US-based startup

I raised a seed, and want to turn many of my engineers that I was paying on ICs into full-time employees. I am not sure what to do regarding insurance and benefits for these employees. Frankly, I'm not sure how to handle HR at all as a very young founder. Should I be investing in these benefits or not? None of the employees have asked for it explicitly yet, but I'm not sure if it's standard or will save my butt later, especially with employee retention long term. How do I handle HR as an early-stage startup?
