Can investors force you to stay on the business?

Can investors force CEOs to stay in their business until it is successful and to repay if the business fails. My business is on the edge of collapsing and my investors don’t want me to leave the business, and they want me to pay them the money they invested. I have lost the passion and dedication towards the venture and don’t want to work at a toxic environment anymore. What should I do ?
