There is a tiny strip center in my town, and it's corner spot is now about to the 5t

Obviously starting a successful restaurant is not easy. And even more importantly, it costs a lot, so there is a ton of financial risk as well. I feel like for someone to look at this corner spot and see that it's for lease, and there have been FOUR other restaurants there, all failed, you would have to be next-level delusional to think it's a good idea to take this already difficult and risky business model and then decide to attempt it in this (very likely) terrible location with a history of many failed restaurants in that exact location.

I realize nobody has an answer for this specific person, but surely there's some underlying explanation for this phenomenon. Is it just confidence that they can beat the odds? I guess it has to be that, but I just can't possibly understand anyone being willing to take such a risk.
