Is three founder a lot for a tech startup?

Currently we are two founders, one is technical and other is non technical. I am the technical founder, my non technical founder has said there’s a lot of work for him to done by himself, so we are deciding to hire another non technical founder(he’s a common friend), should we hire another non technical founder and is it good in the long run to hire him and how will the investors will react when he will see there are three founders. He’s going to be the COO in the future, if we decided to hire him.
