Why is my Instagram ad approval taking up the time it is up for?

Hi I got an ad to promote my small business on instagram for 24 hours and it says it needs to be approved before they can start promoting it. The thing is the counter for my time my ad is up is still going down even though the post has not been approved yet. What do I do? If the timer expires do I have to get the post approved again?
