What can I do to improve output?

What can I do to improve output?

I’m currently a student on a long degree and due to finish soon. 1.5 years ago I had an idea for a mobile app in a forgotten/neglected area in a pretty large industry. I did a few months of market research which showed results in favour of my solution and I decided to pursue it.

Since I have little coding knowledge I’ve managed to secure two competent developers for equity in my idea. I lucked out as it’s clear to me these guys share the passion for the project and together we recently came first place in a local business plan competition out of 100 other businesses (mix of pre start up - 4 years trading).

However, I’m pretty wary of the fact that we still don’t have an MVP. My developers both hold full time jobs and work on this project in their spare time. I’ve started to learn some coding but nowhere near competent enough to work on the app. As a result development is really slow and nowhere near what we’d like and I’m worried we'll miss take another year on getting an MVP out and potentially missing the boat as competitors are just entering this space..

After doing some reading in this sub it’s quite evident to me that most people get an MVP created quite soon. I’m also surprised at the amount of people securing funding/seeding/VC etc.

I’m now thinking maybe I need to find some funds and entice my developers into working on the project full time? Perhaps working on the project without remuneration and the hopes that our part-time voluntary efforts will bring in some money later down the line isn’t enough pull?
