How to figure out if a company is looking for funding

If you don't have access to the financials of the company, how can one figure out whether they are looking for funding? Are there any qualitative parameters that you can observe or any other metrics that help you with this - things like the Product Market Fit, Market Sub Sectors, Product Network Effects essentially inform on w whether the company is a good fit for investments but i want to figure out if a company is looking for funding irrespective of the product. Are there any pointers that help with this
