Unemployment Insurance as Sole Proprietor

Hi all, I am in Michigan, and recently filled out info online (through Michigan MIWAM) to get a sales tax ID. However, I received info in the mail on unemployment insurance and what I owe. Thing is - I don't have any employees, and don't have a payroll. Did I fill out something wrong, or are sole props required to pay self employment insurance? I'm very new to all the tax stuff and continue to be frustrated by its complexity. Thanks
