Does Physical Location Matter?

Hi there,
I have been in tech for a number of years at this point working as an engineer full time and devoting around 20 hrs week to side projects. I am at a point where I want to take one of these projects seriously and attempt to create a business out of it.
I am based in the midwest, about as far from a tech "hub" as you can get in the US. I hear about startup hubs like San Francisco, Denver, Austin, etc. Can anyone share their experience on the value of moving to one of these locations? What are some of the biggest benefits to moving? What about the biggest detractors?
