How much is a common trademark filing through a lawyer?

I’m wondering what a good range for filing a trademark through a lawyer would be. A firm I contacted quoted me $800 for the filing, and an additional $800 if I wanted a basic search for risks and marks that could be confusingly similar, plus the government fees of $350/class. This seems very high for a trademark, I would think the first $800 would cover a search and filing. Could anyone who has filed a trademark through a lawyer share their experience in terms of how much it cost?
