Niche or Not?

Just asking to see peoples opinions on whether it is better to be best in class of a niche or best in class of a general industry?
Which do you have experience in?
Which one makes more money?
What are your strategies of growing these 2 options?
There are pros and cons to both. I tried being a general service but that brings lots of competition but more potential customers. If I would go niche and ask a higher price to fewer customers would I see faster growth overall?
