I will be honest: 39 years old and in europe. With two small kids (below 4years old) a good lifestyle and a bit of financial stability (enough time with kids, enough money to travel 1-2x a year discover culture and teach my kids, healthy able to do many sports hobbies). So I might not be suited to be a founder, I accept that. I am not looking to get big money from a startup - but I just fit so much better in tech/startup environments to actually enjoy what I do.
But why do I ask in this forum? I had three times an offer to go to a startup(one really bad - don’t exist anymore, one is doing ok but stagnates now and interesting roles are all gone) and one that is still looking for PMF after 3 years.
What options are left for me? I am currently a Head of Product in of the Innovation Department of a large company (edit for anonymity). It’s not all bad but at the end there is no real startup mindset, alot is innovation theater. I see few people who truly pushes the team to think differently and no option to really get your or other idea through. All just top down.
So yeah I think I have what it takes, but my time has probably passed or maybe you think I have the wrong motivation. Happy to hear your thoughts.
Edit: I must say I was overwhelmed by the answers. I first thought I will get ripped apart with comments like "you can't have if all". But no there was alot of helpful advice: 1) Work on my attitude / own perception (coach/professional help) 2) Look into startup advisor or accelerator program or even late stage B/C 3) 39 is fine - and it doens't need to be 20 y.o. 80 hours a week type to do similar work THANK YOU
