SCORE linked me up with a mentor who is in my area and owns a business similar to the one I am looking to start. I found score by going through my states SBA.
It is free and they do it for free, so be courteous and considerate of their time. The guy I met with (virtually) was super nice and helpful and just wanted to help people get up and running. I talked with him for about an hour going over my business plan, answering questions I had and sharing experiences.
It was more helpful than I thought and was really nice to get feedback from someone who isnt a friend or family.
It took a couple weeks to get a mentor and to set up a meeting, but I'm glad I waited. We have another meeting scheduled for next month, and I'm hoping to continue after that.
