I have a donut store here in Canada and it has been pretty successful. I've been running the business for 6 years now and I opened our store nearly 3 years ago.
When I started the business I just did a rough outline on how much my costs were as I was the only person doing the labour. After employing 1-2 employees I was still able to figure out the cost of each product, however when I got my location it was busy from the get go and I actually didn't write out a business plan (huge mistake I know!), as I was trying to do 5 things at once and ended up pushing it behind.
I'm at a stage now where I employ 7 staff members. The wages range from $15-$20ph
I just recently got someone to help me with my business finances and figuring out my costs, but he is a good friend and he is doing it on the side of his other work and family life so it's a slow process.
We also change 1/2 of our flavours around every 3 months. What I'm trying to work out is how much does my product cost me with the amount of employees I have in the store per day.
eg. I have 4 staff working on a weekday but 6 - 7 staff on a weekend.
Is there a way to work out the cost of donut (plain donut with no icing) to the amount of staff I have in the store? This is so I can figure out how much % to charge on top of the price of the donut? Do I do an average salary for the store per day and then figure that out for the month/year and then calculate how much % I add on for the full donut?
I have calculated each cost of the donut and the glazes, but I'm trying to figure out how much everything costs with the labour hours and all of their CPP and EI taxes included
