TL;DR – how / where do I off-load nearly £1000 worth of frozen orange juice concentrate to recuperate some of my loss?
Hi all, apologies if this is not the best subreddit for this question but I’m hoping some sharper minds than mine might be able to help with a solution.
Some context - I am based in the UK and own a small soft drinks company. Over the last 12 months I have been attempting to develop a very specific orange flavour product, the recipe uses orange juice concentrate. The OJ comes in very large minimum order quantities so I have a whole chest freezer full of this stuff.
Long story short none of my orange attempts have tested well enough with customers to justify a release and I’m now in a position where at the end of the year (Dec 2021) the concentrate will be past its ‘use by’ date and unusable.
Before that happens I would like to ideally recover some of the sunk cost even if it means selling at a significant discount. The problem is – I’m not sure where to even start. I have posted ads locally online but no takers and I have contacted the original manufacturer to see if they had any contacts / suggestions but they didn’t respond which is fair enough as it’s not in their interest for me to sell their product on.
It’s a sin to waste this amount of food so I would also consider giving it away for free before time runs out but I’m not even sure on the legalities of giving away this type of material.
Thanks to anyone who can weigh in with a thought / suggestion!
