How do you (logistically and legally) pay yourselves?

First-time founder with some newly granted funding coming soon, and expecting to a take a small salary to at least help the Team commit to relocating and quitting our full-time jobs.

I understand we should mark ourselves as employees of the Delaware C-corp and such, but I doubt its as simple as just writing out checks to each founder each month.

What do other early startups do? Obviously, I don't want to run into any tax or payroll issues once tax season comes up.
