My family and I just recently bought a house in a suburban/rural area. Moat of the houses here were built in the late 1800s-1950s and thus many dont have modern amenities (e.g. A/C). My job is full remote so a stable internet connection was absolutley needed & I sprung for 1000 Mbps speed from the local provider. HOWEVER, our house is old and had no ethernet drops throughout (and only a single coax drop). I was able to put in 5 drops across two floors in about a day of work and was surprised at how easy it was.
This brings me to an idea I had for a local side gig: installing coax and ethernet drops in residences. Materials aren't expensive and i have most of the tools already. I figure there is a huge market around this area for this service as high speed internet was introduced here less than 5 years ago. I'm wondering if there are any roadblocks that I might not be thinking of in starting to take some gigs. Does this have to be done by an electrician? Are profit margins too low for this to make sense?
Please let me know your thoughts on this before I get too overzealous.
