Decide when to take a plunge

Decide when to take a plunge

Me and my business partner has been running a SaaS website for the last few years. We currently make around $2000 a month out of which $500 goes towards expenses and rest is profit. I am currently deciding if I should invest $100k/year which will allow my partner to quit his day job to pursue the company full time. I believe we could easily scale it to 100k a year within 2 years, maybe within 1 year. There are two competitors in our niche each with several million valuation with relatively small feature gap between us and them. Investment would increase my ownership (and my partner is ok with it). 100k investment is around 2 years of savings for me and 10% of my net worth. I will keep my current job which brings around 400k a year (startup has been cleared by legal). I am in my late 30s.

I am finding the decision to invest a more of a leap of faith than anything else, which is a bit distressing for an engineer Smile I feel that with enough grind we can make it and in the worse case scenario I will just recoup my investment over the few years if things go south (business is very sticky). Any advice I should think about it ?
