Best way to go about establishing a new sport as a business?

Hi all,

I invented a new sport (called Raiderball). We are in the testing phases, but it is showing some promising results as a fun sport. Anyway, I have started creating my own league for it (called North American Raiderball Association). Since this business is kind of unique compared to others, what are some good ways I can go about starting it, marketing, and protecting it legally? The only business models I have to work off of are other leagues such as the NFL, MLB, etc. I know you can't trademark an actual sport itself, but I am trying to make sure Raiderball and the North American Raiderball Association are as inseparable as possible.
