Hiring a part-time worker and paying them a salary instead of hourly.

Has anyone hired someone for part time work - say 20ish hours a week, but pay them a salary. I’m thinking 20k/year and it will probably be around 20 or less hours a week. It doesn’t seem worth it to me to babysit their hours if I’m comfortable with the salary and they get done what needs done. It will be somewhat remote from me most of the time so I won’t really care how efficient they are. Thoughts? I’ve never hired anyone before so this may be a normal thing, but I just need some guidance.
