I’m interested in opening up my own luxury dog boarding + daycare + grooming. If I do simple math, and have 50 dogs at $25/ day in daycare and 10 dogs in boarding at $65/ night, and let’s say this is the average for 365 days, (which is impossible to keep exactly 50 dogs in daycare and 10 dogs boarding for 365 days, but it’s just an average because maybe some days will have 40 dogs and other days 60 dogs, and it’s not including any additional grooming prices or additional services so I’m only going off the basics of what I’m offering and nothing extra).
That still - not including any other services - comes out to $693k... let’s say payroll is $300k, and all rent and utilities come out to... $200k. That still leaves me with $193k to do what I please - whether it’s to put it back in marketing or keep it to myself, and let’s say I pay $100k in marketing a year, that’s still $93k profit?
But when I google average dog kennel owner salary the number is significantly lower - like average is around $40-64k, with extreme highs being $122k ish.
So what am I missing here? Clearly I am missing something because those numbers or prices are not outrageous and I would assume / expect most dog boarding/ daycare to have similar numbers?
