Can I as a founder participate in a Seed round?

I've been bootstrapping my startup, built and launched the MVP already. It's a fintech so I have a minimum-net-worth requirement ($100K) in order to get an appropriate license.

Trying to get some longer-term evidence of traction and growth before going and asking for Seed funding. I've just been depositing personal funds into the business bank account. And I'm wondering - once we raise should I be repaying myself (as if it's debt) or can I consider my deposits to be contributions to the seed round?

I'd actually prefer to be in the round and get some of those sweet preferred shares if it's acceptable to do as the founder.
