Is there a difference between forming a business as an LLC then electing a S-Corp fo

I have a business that's an LLC. Planning on electing taxation into an S-Corp. But I wonder if I should just change the entire business entity to a Corporation instead.

Is there a difference in legal protection? I read that one was easier to pierce the veil. Forget which one.
