I can’t seem to keep an employee for more than a year or so. I offer a higher salary every single time I hire a new person for this role. Hoping that’s the fix, but it never is.
The role is a field service technician for an industrial / commercial machinery service company.
Competitive (if not higher than normal) salary, company vehicle, company uniforms, benefits offered, very relaxed work environment, very much a “get your service calls done, then go home” type of schedule. More often than not the techs workdays will be under 8 hours.
The work is tough, physically, I guess. No different than being an auto or truck mechanic.
I can’t seem to figure this out. Going on my 4th tech in as many years. Any tips?
