2 months in and no clients

2 months in and no clients

Used to be employed but resigned to start my own thing as I learnt about the industry and figured it was just not rewarding for me anymore.

Funding wise, I'm sorted for the next few months as I'm lucky to have my family's support.

The only problem that I'm facing right now is the fact that I have 3 large competitors in the market that suck all the clients in.

What I feel is either we are having a hard time getting clients to sign up as we lack the market reputation or that our sales cycle just isn't good enough.

I'm in the service industry and before you suggest that I should contact my ex-clients, I can get sued by my ex employer if they find out that I'm poaching their clients.

Up until now, we've gotten very close to closing a few sales but the clients just stop being interested after an office meeting with us. But the very fact that we were able to pique the potential clients interest to take the time to visit us in the office must mean that our marketing game is solid (maybe).

I've taken to this sub to clarify two things.

  1. Is it normal for it to take some time before you start getting clients in a new business?

  2. How can I find out the exact thing that's putting these potential clients off in my sales cycle?
